Satellite Tracking Animation:

When the satellite enters the coverage area of a ground receiving station (shown), it directs its antenna towards the station antenna to enable an X-band video communication.

The satellite performs the imaging tasks for that particular footprint , based on a tasking program uploaded by the Ground Control Station.

The ground receiving station receives the video signal data from the satellite, processes it and stores the resulting image data in a local archive.

EROS satellites are high performance, light, highly maneuverable high-resolution observation satellites. The satellites' light weight and rigidity allows a quick and stable repointing of it's line of sight allowing fast maneuvering between targets. The ImageSat International constellation of satellites will provide the most frequent daily revisit of any site around the world.

EROS SATELLITES - Highly Manoeuvreable Imaging satellite

The light and rigid design of the EROS satellites allows for a great degree of platform manoeuverability. The EROS satellite camera is strapped to the satellite bus (main structure), utilizing the "push broom" imaging technique. Satellites can be maneuvered to up to 45 degrees in any direction enabling imaging of many different areas during the same pass. The satellites' ability to quickly point and image allows stereo imaging during the same orbit.

EROS A

EROS A Image Resolution Options:

Standard 1.9 meter and Hypersampled

EROS A is designed to image the earth at variable scanning speeds and at any angle relative to the ground track. This provides unparalleled flexibility of imaging modes, which improves information content for applications previously not produced using satellite imaging content by allowing imaging at relatively low illuminations (at high latitudes).

The standard mode of operation delivers panchromatic imagery in a 14 km swath (7,490 pixels per line) at a ground sampling distance (GSD) of 1.9 meters at nadir. Actual swath width and pixel size vary with variable viewing angles. The hypersampled mode provides customer-specified image acquisitions at better than 1.2-meter GSD in a reduced, 9.5 km swath.

The agility of EROS enables the satellite to acquire many different areas during the same pass. The satellites' ability to point and shoot their cameras also allows for stereo, triplet and two stereo-pair imaging during the same pass.

EROS B - Sub-metre Panchromatic Imagery

EROS B weight is 290 kg at launch and orbit at a sun synchronous orbit at an altitude of 508 km. The Eros B satellite carries a camera with a CCD/TDI (Charge Coupled Device/Time Delay Integration) sensors for panchromatic images. The camera system provides 15,000 pixels per line and produces an image resolution of 70cm at Nadir. EROS B has an increased onboard storage capacity, which combined with its agility allows the collection of 190km long strip scenes at any angle to the ground track. The data transmission rate is 280 Mbit/s. The expected lifetime of the EROS B satellite is 8 - 10 years.

EROS C

Offering higher quality resolution and a higher data link rate than EROS A and B, as well as multispectral imagery capabilities, the EROS C satellite is in development and launch is anticipated in 2009.

EROS C will weigh 350 kg at launch and will orbit in a sun synchronous orbit at an altitude of about 500 km. The EROS C satellite will be equipped with a camera with CCD/TDI (Charge Coupled Device/Time Delay Integration) sensors, producing both panchromatic imagery at a standard resolution of 0.70 m, and multispectral imagery at a standard resolution of 2.8 m, with a swath of 11 km at nadir. The data transmission rate will be 455 Mbit/s.

The expected lifespan of the EROS C is ten years.

EROS Color Fused Imagery

The CFI product is a Colour Fused Image using the EROS A or EROS B sensor as the high resolution panchromatic data source and a low-cost medium resolution multi-spectral sensor as the source of colour information.

This new Colour Fused Imagery is now available, ImageSat awarded Apogee the world wide rights for the commercial supply of CFI product.
